Sauteed Green Beans

This is no fancy recipe. Green beans boiled and sauteed with mild flavors is a commonly found lunch sides in many of the restaurants here. I buy green beans whenever I see them in the market. Usually, beans poriyal or  Paruppu usili is what I make. My Husband was insisting me to try this at home for a long time after he tasted them recently on business lunch. I was sure that it must be an easy one, but have so many versions of it. After researching many of them, I arrived at this method that suits our taste buds. Do try this and drop your comments.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Fresh Green beans
  • 4 stick Garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 0.5 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 0.25 tsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Oil
Instructions
  1. Wash the beans and trim the ends. Finely chop the garlic cloves and set aside. Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan and allow it to cool down.
  2. Heat water in a saucepan and add a tsp of salt to it. Bring it to boil and add the beans to it. Cover with a lid and let them boil for 4- 5 mins. Open the lid and make sure it is parboiled.
  3. Switch off the flame and drain the water from it. Immediately wash them with cold water to prevent further cooking.
  4. Drain water and lay them on a paper tissue to cool down completely. Heat oil + butter in a wide pan. When its hot, add the chopped garlic cloves and saute for 1 – 2 mins until it renders a flavor.
  5. Add the green beans, followed by soya sauce, pepper powder and toss until they are coated. Make sure to check the salt content before adding further salt.
  6. After a minute, add the dry roasted sesame seeds and switch off the flame. Serve them super hot.
Recipe Notes

  • Soya sauce already has sodium content in it. Also, salt is added earlier when cooking the beans, it is better to check the salt content before adding further.
  • Fresh beans always taste great in this recipe. Make sure you use them very fresh instead of using long-stored ones in the refrigerator.
