0/4 Instructions
  • In a mixer jar, add pepper and jeera Seeds. Crush them coarsely. Set aside.
  • In a wide bowl, add two cups of gram flour, rice flour, half a teaspoon of turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, melted butter, and a generous table spoon of crushed pepper-jeera. Mix together to form a crumble.
  • Add water in small batches and knead hem to a soft pilable dough. Keep covered until use.
  • Squeeze the dough directly to hot oil using a three hole mold from the murukku press. Cook in medium low flame and flip over. When oil stops sizzling, remove and cool down. Serve with coffee/tea.

  • I have used store-bought flours. If you have homemade flours, you can use them.
  • I love mild pepper flavors and wanted to make them kid-friendly. Hence added one plus tablespoon of pepper powder. Increase or decrease quantity based on your spice tolerance.
  • Always, deep fry in medium flame to ensure the inner side is also cooked and the outer is uniformly done for a crispy karasev.
