Rava Pongal

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rava/Sooji
  • 1/4 cup Moong Dal
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Asafoetida Powder
  • Tempering Ingredients
  • 1 stick Curry Leaves
  • 2.5 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Pepper Corns
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Cashews
Instructions
  1. In a pressure cooker, add quarter cup of moong dal.Pressure cook for three whistles.
  2. Roast Rava in medium flame with one teaspoon of Ghee.
  3. Boil two cups of water with cooked moong dal. Add turmeric powder, asafoetida powder and salt. When it begins to boil, add roasted rava and cook in medium flame.
  4. Meanwhile, add ghee to a pan and add all the tempering ingredients and roast till golden brown.
  5. Transfer tempering on cooked pongal. Pressure cook again for a whistle and serve hot rava pongal with chutney or sambar of choice.
