Oats Puttu

Puttu is one of the very famous breakfast recipes. It is very famous among malayalis and made with a variety of grains. Puttu can be made with rice, red rice, ragi , and wheat flour. I tried making puttu with oats flour. It is very easy to prepare and stays soft for a longer time. Oats is often consumed as porridge / kanji which becomes boring after sometime. Instead of it, you can try making this quick and soft puttu in under 15 mins. This oats puttu can be served for breakfast or as a quick evening snack for kids. Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1/4 cup Grated Coconut
Instructions
  1. Add one cup of oats to mixer jar. pulse 2-3 times to a coarse powder.
  2. Sprinkle water little by little to the oats along with a dash of salt. when pressed in between hands, it should hold shape. Pulse them again on a mixer.
  3. Line up with a puttu maker with grated coconut and puttu flour.
  4. Steam puttu for 5-6 mins. Serve with banana or kadala curry.
