Methi Dal Tadka

Methi leaves is very healthy and rich in minerals. Methi leaves are great source for regulating the blood glucose levels, hence it is a good one for diabetics. When it is combined with dal, it makes an excellent source of protein. Methi Dal can be made in under 20 min for a wholesome lunch/dinner. Ingredients
  • 1 cup Methi Leaves
  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal
  • 1 stick Onion
  • 1 stick Tomato
  • 2 stick Green chilli
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Tempering Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Jeera Seeds
  • 2 stick Red Chilli
  • 4 stick Garlic
  • 1 tsp Oil
Instructions
  1. Wash and add half cup of toor dal, roughly chopped onion, tomato, green chilli and washed methi greens to a pressure cooker. Let it cook for three whistles.
  2. Once the pressure is released, mash them completely. Add turmeric powder and salt. Set aside.
  3. Heat a pan with a teaspoon of oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli and crushed garlic. Roast until garlic turns brown.
  4. Add mashed dal. Let it come to boiling stage. Turn off stove and serve with rotis / rice.
Recipe Notes

  • Replace crushed garlic , with asafoetida powder if making on a fasting day.
  • You can replace with methi leaves with amaranth leaves and continue with the recipe.
