Iyengar Bakery Style Masala Bread Toast

If you are a 90’s kid, you must have definitely tasted this at least one time in your childhood. After-school snacks are also important after a full day at school. During our school days, there was a bakery that we pass through every evening after school. Cream buns, puffs, and many other flavorful goodies would be decked up.

Of all, I always loved this Iyengar Bakery Masala bread toast. Appa used to buy these for us when he gets back home. This masala toast would be so delicious and filling. Fast forward, while I was craving something, I recreated this Iyengar bakery masala toast and this was spot flavors and tasted like the ones I had in my school days. If you are a 90’s kid, you will definitely, enjoy this toast and remember your childhood days, with every bite. Try this quick and easy masala toast for your tea time and let it take you down memory lane.

  • Heat a pan, add oil to it. When hot, add mustard seeds and Jeera . Let it splutter. Add chopped green chilli, onions, capsicum and grated carrots. Saute them for 2-3 mins until soft. Add red chilli powder, jeera powder and chaat masala. Add tomatoes. Cook covered for 2-3 mins. Finally, add tomatoo sauce and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Brush a dosa pan with ghee/butter. Toast bread slices on both sides until they turn golden brown. Smear a generous portion of masala on toasted bread. Serve with tea or coffee.

Notes

  • I have used multi- grain bread. You can use white bread/ wheat bread too.
