Ingredients
- 10 stick Biscuits
- 300 ml Milk
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 2 stick Cardamom pods
Tempering Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Cashews
- 1 tsp Raisins
Instructions
- Break the biscuits roughly into a mixer. Coarsely grind them and set aside.
- Heat milk in a heavy-bottomed vessel until it begins to boil.
- Once it begins to boil add sugar followed by pounded cardamom pods.
- Allow it to boil for 2 mins. Add the coarsely powdered biscuits to the milk and stir.
- Heat a small pan and add cashews and raisins to the Ghee. Roast them until golden brown.
- Add the roasted cashews- raisins to the payasam and switch off the flame. Serve warm or cold. Tastes great both the ways.
Recipe Notes
- Do not use biscuits with savory taste in it. This will spoil the payasam.
- Do not add the biscuits to a fine powder. This will create lumps once added to the milk.
- Adjust the sugar levels according to the sweetness of your biscuits. My biscuits were sweet enough and hence I added only one tablespoon of sugar.
- If you like the smell of rose essence, you can add it at the end after switching off the flame.
